Practicality is the bye word for all conversions that Bilbo’s build and the Celex is a perfect example of this

Four travel seats and two berths are the Celex starting point, in the familiar side furniture/rear seat-cum-bed guise. But then Bilbo’s start to add their unique built-in practicality with its own rear seat design which is probably the easiest in the market, to convert into a bed, the whole backrest just hinges over to form a very flat and extremely comfortable cosy sleeping area.

The Celex also comes with a Bilbo’s own award-winning side hinge elevating roof, easy to raise with heavy-duty vinyl and removable window blinds. It works brilliantly. It’s absolutely perfect for couples, however, an option of a roof bed allows for additional sleeping for kids, the ideal conversion for those quick spur of the moment weekends away.

You’ll also spot another good example of Bilbo’s practicality when you open the rear tailgate, where you will find, the filler for the fresh-water tank, plus an easy-access gas locker at the base of the furniture unit and a large, uncluttered luggage area. Also, the front section of the rear seat has two locker doors and plenty of space for a portable toilet and additional storage for shoes or whatever you want to store safely away.

Starter Pack

Bilbo's Starter Pack has everything you need to get started. Including: a 25m mains lead, a Bilbo's mains bag, a mains adaptor, water filler hose, 1 x 907 camping gaz bottle, leveling blocks and a useful plastic box. Subject to availability.

Cab Carpets

A one piece cab carpet embroidered with Bilbo's branding and quality edging. Rubber backed for non-slip and removable either to clean or when the standard wipe-proof rubber flooring is preferred.

Bilbo's Celex SWB Rear Removable Carpet

A removable Bilbo carpet which covers the complete living space for added warmth or softness underfoot. A quality finish with embroidered branding, edging and rubberised base for non-slip. Available for SWB or LWB.

Bilbo's low-lie elevating roof

Standard - Bilbo's unique side elevating roof is standard across the range, maximising standing height along the length of the vehicle. The roof construction includes a fiberglass top with a heavy duty durable vinyl awning section, twin zipped midge proof screens front and rear, and large side windows with roll-up blinds. Standard on the Space, Komba, Celex and Nexa. The roof is available on short and long wheelbase models. Roof beds optional.

Continental elevating roof

Optional - This front lifting roof has the added advantage of accommodating a wider fitted roof bed, suitable for both children and adults. When not in use, the bed conveniently pushes up and out of the way. The roof is available on short or long wheelbase models. Available on Komba and Celex.

Bilbo's High-Top

Optional - Available on short wheelbase models, the Bilbo's High-Top roof offers substantial insulation, storage compartments and shelves and includes double-glazed side windows with blinds and netting and a roof vent with built in light, blind and netting. Available on Space, Celex, Nexa and Nexa+ SWB models.

Bilbo’s Celex Volkswagen Campervan Specification

Over years of touring, we’ve evolved our own style of doing things; everyone does. But realising that some travellers may have different layout preferences, we invited our customers to tell us what they’d like to see in a Bilbo’s Motorhome. The wealth of feedback we received helped us to take a fresh look at our design approach. The Celex VW camper van was the delightful result, hailed by many as the VW motorhome that others are judged by. We were particularly pleased when this VW camper van model won the much-coveted 2005 Motorhome Monthly Magazine – Best Elevating Roof Motorhome of the year. More recently the Celex LWB has won The Which Motorhome 'Best Campervan 2012' and The Which Motorhome 'Campervan of the year 2013'.

Benefiting from a double bed and endless storage options, this is a superior multi-purpose VW camper van, that’s as comfortable at the golf club as it is on distant Mediterranean beaches.

Gas

Designed to supply the 2 burner hob and grill, the Celex gas locker will carry two Camping Gaz 907 cylinders at 30Mbar. Gas cylinders are stored in an air tight steel lined storage compartment, which is vented through the floor of the vehicle. There is easy access to the gas locker on the Celex from the tailgate located at the rear of the vehicle.

Water

The Celex is fitted with a 36 litre onboard fresh water tank and 35 litre waste tank, with an easily accessible drainage tap.

Electrics

All Bilbo VW conversions are fitted with a 12V system and 240V hook-up. The 12V system uses power from a 120amp/hr leisure battery (additional battery to the vehicle battery) and controls all 12V conversion equipment. This system runs the compressor fridge, lighting and water system and is charged when driving or when hooked up to mains.

A Power Management System is fitted with a digital display showing; battery voltage levels, water levels, internal and external temperature, appliance current consumption and alarm clock.

The Celex conversion is fitted with a 240v socket, 12v socket and twin USB socket as standard.

Offering the complete range of Transporter engines, at Bilbo's you have the choice between 3 x Diesel engine sizes, which further options including Manual, DSG Automatic and/or 4Motion (4x4) transmission which are available in certain combinations shown below.

All models are 4 cylinder common rail turbo'd engines, Euro 6 compliant for emissions, with Diesel models all fitted with an AdBlue tank.
